I may have answered my question as I initially missed the "BC" reference in
your email:

>I brought up this idea of the pockets as I use the same BC for all of
>my diving in many different conditions.

If you are diving a BC, and by this you mean other than a wing, then I would
stick my neck out and say that this is the cause of your side-to-side trim
problem. I feel that diving a BC rather than a wing in not DIR.

Please feel free to correct me if I'm wrong.

Re your trim issue.

Why?

I find that with my Diverite original wings, I can migrate the air in the
wing to one side to counteract the lop-sided weighting caused by a canister
or stages. The air just stays where it is put unless I go vertical. I have
re-enforced my wing bladder with a truck inner tube, so this may contribute
to the stability of the asymmetrical buoyancy created.

If I can recall back to my stroke days when I used Zeagle wings, I had a
side-to-side trim problem and used to adjust the weighting with the stroke
weight pouches. The air in these wings would not stay put as they do with
the Diverites, so perhaps we have an issue of wing bladder design/shape
here. Which wing do you use?
