I agree. but that does not preclude me from training with my buddy or dive
team using an alternate method.
Your comment also assumes that everyone else uses and is familiar with DIR.

It's not my wallet. When I dive like that I get paid. The point is under
some circumstances DIR in inappropriate. Therefor not the only acceptable
method for all conditions.

> But yet you have blind faith that its not the right way. Ahem

It's not blind faith, it's experience that said it is not always the right
way.
this dose not preclude DIR from being the right method for certain
environments, and certain people.

I have to agree with your point. The need for a team to understand and
trust each other is imperative. Having an agreed upon method and standards
it mandatory. I was responding to the intolerance of ideas. or of differin=
g
disciplines.

I think you got off track here.
You made the point that I should learn from others who have been there.
My point was That's why as asked people their opinions in the first place.

as for...
> No because upside down tanks are ridiculous
That's answering a question with because...... just because.
I'm afraid that isn't very enlightening.

You make my point perfectly. Just because you were taught one way, doesn't
make it the best way. And people have a tendency to belittle anyone who
doesn't do things their way.

Maybe just maybe there is a step up from the standard DIR rig. Maybe
someone will find it and teach it to me.

Quote from my earlier post:

All I know is that with each dive I do, I strive to become a better diver.
With each mistake, a lesson learned. And with each step taken, I'm that
much closer to finding my own way.
