Actually, Thomas, it's not! :-) Some of the places where the police divers have to travel in order to recover bodies often requires many hours of backpacking through ruggged bush where it's just not practical to haul SSD equipment. That's not to say that their system can't be improved upon. They borrowed the decanting technique from the Navy where it worked well because the SABA sets were specifically designed for use in an inverted position and with the valves protected from damage. (BTW! They had an SPG, it's just that - tucked away between the cylinders - it couldn't be read by the user when the set was being worn!!! Which really wasn't an issue anyway for a unit that was largely intended for use in dark, silty, muddy water.)
