Hi everyone! My name is Juha Flinkman, I'm a marine biologist working at the Finnish Institute of Marine Research in Helsinki, Finland. I have been a certified diver (CMAS) for 12 years, and currently hold P3-diver and M2-instructor cards. In diving, my main interest is wreck diving. I dive in the same club, PSK Kupla, with Reima Raty and Matti Leinio, whom many of You already know. Our wreck dives are mostly to WWII-wrecks in our waters here in the Northern Baltic, doing research for the Finnish War Museum. So far, we've been diving with air only (except Matti!), and our depth range is down to 50 metres. We dive with membrane dry suits with dry hoods and gloves, 200 bar twin 10 litre or 300 bar twin 6 or 7 litre tanks with manifolds, and Aga full face masks connected to Poseidon Jetstream 1st stages, and an extra Jetstream unit for backup. Most of our diving takes place in near or absolute darkness, with often poor visibility, and cold water (0-4 C). On the other hand, the wrecks are plentiful, and low salinity in the Northern Baltic (5-7 ppt) excludes the shipworm, so even old wooden constructions are still there. It's great to be with You all in techdiver, Yours, Juha Flinkman <juha.flinkman@fi*.fi*>
