This june the UN will try to make this happen through international treaty by UNESCO. I the US Senate approves this then the future of wreck diving is in Jeopardy. my reply: UNESCO is our worst nightmare in respect to ALL subjects. They also use "smoke and mirrors" in portraying to want to save our environment. This is only a way to grab land and regulate us to the bitter end when the UN becomes the new world order. I may sound like a looney to you but the NGO's (non-governmental organizations) like sierra and such, even the ones that say they want to protect our reef structure like REEF are bureaucratic horrors just waiting to happen. Paranoid?? Nah...It goes like this...Enviromental companies, be it private, public (government) or NGO have a work force that can't survive on PROVEN science. They rely on ficticious testomony from the employees of such bureaucratic organizations to justify their jobs. Now I know we ALL want to save our environment but think about this example, ie: In New Jersey, we have hundreds of superfund sites, sites that have been studied for DECADES. Imagine being a DEP/EPA hazardous site officer/inspector with no sites to inspect. No work=No Job! New Jersey acknowledges these sites and almost NEVER cleans them up. In NJ's "SRP" report (in front of me now) it describes drums with toxins leeching into groundwater aquifiers....FOR YEARS! These inspectors eyeball the sites and send out sample takers not clean-up people. The reason being....and I'm not paranoid again. Our environmentalisticly connected group of people out there is so big they need such agenda to work with. Even after the clean-up (very rare) NJDEP keeps the contaminated site on the in-active list just to get the Federal monies to suppliment the bureaucracy of their jobs. I really didn't mean this to get drawn out so much, but you've tickled my fuse. BTW-The documents to backup the above statement was requested by me when I ran for state senate in 97'. (Libertarian of course <G>) Watch out for the national park service also. I can't stop.....once I start! :( Many years ago the army corps of engineers drained florida....isn't it ironic the same group has the audacity (sp) to preach that "we" are the problem to the degradation to our sensitive reef system. sheeezzzz! -- Send mail for the `techdiver' mailing list to `techdiver@aquanaut.com'.
