Mark, I own a set of 112's and experience the same problem, especially in
the area around the bands. I religiously rinse off my cylinders after diving
in salt water but still have the problem. I took a piece of light sandpaper
and scuffed of the rust. If this is done regularly, you will find that the
discoloration can usually be scrubbed off with steel wool or a rough sponge.
In bad spots where the rust has penetrated the paint in small areas like you
described, I get some of that automobile touch-up paint at your local auto
parts store that comes in a small jar with an application brush and just
"dab" it on the spot. Make sure to use sandpaper to remove all signs of
corrosion and then use isopropyl alcohol to clean the area before applying
the paint. The paint has good corrosion inhibitors in it so this should cure
the problem of spreading. Good luck! Jeff
