I'm looking for some help. Apologies for putting this out on the list, but I hope it may be of benefit to people using the nitek 3 dive computers. If you own a nitek, please read on, and bear with me for the lengthy email. If you don't own a nitek, apologies again. A little while ago a thread developed called "Nitek3, Nemesis IIa Warts and All". Part of the discussion was concerning the PC interface sold by Dive Rite for the nitek 3, and at the time I complained about some of the things it could not do, and complained about the things it did do. We've sent a couple of emails to Dive Rite and got no response, so I decided to do something for myself. What has happened is, I have written a programme that will extract the relevant information from the nitek log files and output the information to a csv file that can be read by any spread sheet programme. Two types of output are produced. A brief summary of all the dives, giving short dive name, max depth, times/dates etc. The detailed file give the dive profile also as a table of time, depth and gasmix. The programme works fine for my logbooks, and that of a friend of mine. One of the guys you'll know from the list, Jim Cobb, was kind enough to send me his logbook files, and also feedback on what he would like to see. That helped to get the programme a lot closer to completion. What I intend to do is release the software as freeware. I did the programme to get what I wanted, and now it's almost done, if anyone is interested I'll send out a copy. Prior to release though I would like to test the programme some more. To do this, if possible, I would like to receive logbook files used by the nitek programme, I'll run them through the programme and send you the generated csv files, and a copy of the programme once complete. All logbooks and csv files will not be distributed to other people, once I'm done testing and you have your output files they will be deleted. Any comments/questions you have on the output files would be gratefully received. If you'd like to know more, then send me a email direct, and I can send a sample of the files that are created. Eventually I intend to write my own interface programme and do away with the need for the nitek programme all together, but this is a little ways off at the moment. Many thanks for your time.
