RE: Bruic quitting USDCT Mike, we made this decision to avoid this four years ago in Branford when we met with these guys the first time, realized they are incompetent, and got lied to the first time. The reality is that Cis Lunar has put a lot of effort into trying to electrify and polish a door knob - it "works" according to your definition of work, and when it does not, you find out in Heaven or Hell. I do not consider something this complex or fragile a good cave diving tool. I do not consider Wakulla a good place to promote or market a rebreather , expecially with "volunteers" diving it. You have no idea whether it is working correctly or not, and finding out on a long exposure by dying is not the optimal way to go. As Gavin says about any of the best rebreathers, "anyone can get lucky for a while". Wait until the water gets dark and they have to monitor that thing while having bad vis. Somebody is going to die. I don't rely on luck , and my track record proves it. My track record also supports my very sound decison to have nothing to do with Stone or his program. You know me, you may not like my bluntness, but you have never seen me be wrong about this kind of thing. You also know Bill Gavin, and you know what he does for a living. He himself has a MK16 and and EX 19, and a guess what - a Halcyon. The Halcyon got Gavin so excited, he came back to cave diving and guess what he uses? Guess who our new engineer for RB is? What does he know that you guys do not ( or have nto been told, or are not privy to)? I think it is a real crime that Stone is holding out the hope of diving Wakulla or being a big hero to get people to dive his rebreather, his other toys, and his play soldier methods. Anyone who is willing to follow our simple rules can dive with the WKPP, and if they can indeed cut it in Leon Sinks and work as a team member, they can dive Wakulla - and we dive Wakulla long term, and we are always working in new ( to WKPP) players. Everyone on the USDCT has been invited at one time or another to dive with us, but there are obviously those who know they can not cut it and will not,or will not conduct themselves in a fashion that would allow us to retain them. Bruic, you know what you need to do , and you all know I hold no grudges. Annette Long could dive with us if she wanted to actually help. I do not care about your T-shirts with my name on them, or anything else you have done or said about me or us. I respect your decision to blow off all this work you have done and do the right thing , just like I respect that decision by Mark Long, Tom Morris, Wes Skiles, Lamar Hires, Dell Motes, Larry Green, Randy McGuirre, Bob Mc Guirre, and even Jim Lockwood, and the rest of the cave diving community that are conspicuously absent from Stone's phony "mapping" project. All Stone has are desparate wannabees and new cave divers - an extemely volatile and dangerous mix. For Stone to tell these wannabees and misfits that they can compete with me is ridiculous, unless they have spent the last ten years doing the two per day workouts that I do, and doing the hundreds of long range deep mixed gas cave exploration dives that I have done, or have the intimate knowledge of gear and techniques and emergency proceedures that I do, or can make the kind of informed decisons on the fly under extreme situations that I make when we pull of these dives each and every time, and that my teammates rely on me to make, and make perfectly and are all doing thtemselves aznd learning to do - it can not be done by the unitiated or casual player. Mike, I feel badly for you since I hear you have busted your ass. You know where the action is, and so does the whole community - our door is always wide open. By the way, 22 days and NOTHING DONE by these guys. No mapping, no nothing. All they have determined is that when they surveyed the begining of the cave last time on AIR, they screwed up, just like they screwed up at Sally Ward, and they will continue to do nothing other than broadcast lies, exaggerations , and promos. We ignored their survey after being tipped off by Skiles, and corrected the conduit. Our survey matches with the surface features, but we did not bother with the spring tunnels other than to correct the beginning of C, and the location of the D and F entrances when we found and connnected L, E, and the H,I,K combinations. They will never see any of the conduit part of the cave that we are working. In fact, I can not believe they have not been exposed as baloney and kicked out by now. Hopefully the rain will ruin the fun and they will give up before anyone gets killed . We could be in there producing some real results - they need to get out, and the State needs to recognize this before it gets any worse. mike bruic wrote: > > George----This is my official resignation from the usdct.
