Jim and anyone else interested-
I just delivered Billy's boat (Key West Diver IV) to a shop we've been
working very closely with for the last year or so. Paradise Divers, on
Ohio Key (Just north of Big Pine Key and just barely south of the Seven
Mile Bridge) now has the boat and most of the technical equipment that
Key West Diver, inc. used. Although I cannot speak for him, it is my
understanding that Billy does plan to continue diving, teaching, etc...
out of Paradise. I know all of us that were working for Billy have open
offers at Paradise, and I'll likely be teaching and driving up there on
weekends (I would go full time, but was forced to take a 'real'
desk-type job during the cleanup from the storms we've had.)
The owner of Paradise Divers, Larry Wright has been teaching technically
oriented diving for quite some time down here, mostly working with Key
West Diver to ensure 'good neighborly relations.' So there are avenues
to dive the Wilkes-Barre and Kendrick down here. I do know of one other
facility that has been on those wrecks in the past 6 months, but I can't
(in good conscience) mention them in this post as I have had to .....
umm ..... 'assist' them in several rather sticky situations caused by
their unwillingness to do things in a safe and reasonable manner.
Since I don't want this to sound like an advertisement, if anyone would
like to get ahold of Billy or Larry or make any diving arrangements, I'd
be happy to pass out any contact information via private mail.
