--=====================_1168441==_.ALT Content-Type: text/plain; charset="us-ascii" I have written a simple program that I plan to make available as freeware; however I would like some people to beta test it before I release it to the general public. It's for gas mixing. It will run under Windows 95, Windows 98 or Windows NT. What it does is tell you what combination of Air, O2 and a banked Nitrox mix into a tank that is not empty. This differs from other software I have seen in that it allows you to use some mix other than 21% O2 or 100% O2 to achieve the desired mix, and the tank does not have to be empty. It is also (IMHO) extremely easy to use. Specifically, it allows you to enter the % nitrox in a single bank, the current (residual) psi and mix in the tank and the desired psi and mix. It will then tell you one of the following: (1) it is not possible to produce the desired mix without first emptying out some of the gas (I have to write a new function to figure out how much gas we would have to empty out, and I'm not in the mood right now.) (2) How much O2 and how much of the banked mix to add (3) How much banked mix and how much Air to add. I am planning to make several enhancements in the future. If you would like to lend assistance by trying it out, please send me email at mmowens@pa*.co*. Naturally, all the usual disclaimers apply -- scuba diving is dangerous and could kill you, you should not dive with a gas other than air without special training, you should always analyze your tanks before using them, etc., etc., etc. (The last -- about analyzing your tanks before using them would be of special importance here, because perhaps there are bugs in my algorithm.)
