Subject: Re: about to dry off
Hi Al
I have been drysuit diving for 8 years and these are my experience
based opinions.

A rubber suit is likely to leak, althoug it's easy to repair it won't
meet my expectations. Heavy duty rubber is to expensive.

A nylon suit is the most durable (Aquion) problems occuring with
these suits are leak in the sewings after some 100 dives. Sorry
Aquion is out of business. A nylon suit will not strech so there is
no speaking of snug fit, that 'l make it impossible to reach your
feet. Snug fit is important on dry-suits, this stops air from moving
around inside the suit. Nylon suits are not that easy to repair.

Neoprene suits are most comfortable. The material streches easily.
And is easy to repair. A flooded neoprene suit will maintain
sufficient buoyancy. Of course this depends on the undergarment, but
you woun't need that much undergarment with a neoprene suit. This is
my choise

For any suit....
The suit should have good boots that can stand a challenge on
snow/ice
Rubber neck and wrist seals are more likely to keep you dry than a
neoprene seal. And cheaper to replace
There should be a one way valve on the hood to prevent air
accumulation in the hood.
Strenghtening on knees, hips, elbows and but is good. Rubber is OK,
kevlar is supreme.
The out valve should be adjustable.
The in valve should be easy to operate and reliable. The hose shold
be easy to remove and attach.

My choice is the new Poseidon suit (http://www.poseidon.se/) or if
you preffer compressed neoprene 4mm the Northern Diver is a good
choice
