Nick,

Sorry that I have offended you by mistaken for your origin. Be anal about
bad spelling and grammar, nobody cares. If anyone who was impressed with
Nick's command of the English skill, please send him an e-mail.

If you read what I wrote earlier that I found DIR is still new to the only
people who do any *actual* diving around Singapore, but that's changing.
Unless I exercise option #1 all the time and become a cyber-diver (like
you), or I simply go diving with these people. If they are interested, I
show them what I learned, show them where to get the right equipment, show
them the DIR tape. No difference than the DIR websites, except that these
guys are my friends and my dive buddies. Again, I am not an expert, I merely
pass on what was taught to me and let these people make the decision
themselves.

Regarding about 'jury' and 'verdict', I believe that I am doing the right
thing, and don't need anyone to back me.

Nick, may be I have suggested the worst permutation as I was only *assuming*
(May be I should take the IANTD Specialty Course - ASSUME DIVING) But don't
you think that a bunch of IANTD Instructor Instructor Instructor Trainer
Trainer Trainers should know better (thanks Scarlett) ? These wrecks are in
the range between 54 to 67 meter (178 to 220 feet). And if they do trimix on
the 67m wreck, air on the 54m wrecks, it is OK then ? Khoo even has a DIR
tape in his office, and I presume he shows it to his students. With the
'new' information from your post, what is the 'best' permutation that I
should assume now ? 54m on air with twin steel 10L, 2 steel stages, 3mm
wetsuit, OMS/Superwings, EAN70 and 100 deco... is OK now ? Should I include
the Haskel pump, Nick ?

You and I both know that Khoo teaches students to use steel twin and steel
stages with thin wetsuit or skins. Don't try to deny it as I have seen it. I
asked him, and he replied that it is necessary to follow the rule of third
required by IANTD. The day before the trip, some of his divers were running
around town looking to buy steel twins. They bought 2 X 12L steel tank, only
to bring them back hours later to trade for some 10L because they were not
able to carry the rig.

Read the equipment list again. If the DUI divers used the steel 120's and
aluminum stages, is it OK for the 3mm wetsuit divers to use 10L/12L steel
twin and steel stages ? Nick, you have no idea what you are talking about.
Put some thoughts into what you read on the list, and don't just be a
parrot.

I don't think what you called strokes are exclusively TDI, personal
preference (and the rest of your list...). Read Khoo's equipment list again:
OMS wings, DR Superwings, steel twin and stages, EAN80 deco, etc.

Regarding the 'bunch of guy...', what do you think Mike's Project Asiatic
(the TDI trips) is all about ? It is to teach dive techniques and provide
opportunities for practical experience thru actual diving. There are about
12 trips a year like the one we are discussing where the divers are trained
for the trip, then go dive. In between, most of them dive on week-ends
together. So it is both a bunch of guys out for some fun and training dives.
You ought to get off your couch and go sometimes. At least Mike got sponsors
to keep the cost about 1/3 of what Khoo charges for the same trip. These
guys are not perfect, but they are surely converting to DIR one-by-one.

Nick, I am not going to post anymore on this subject. I think everybody on
the list has enough. I will be going out diving this Saturday (like most
week-end). If you would like to join us, you are more than welcome. We could
'discuss' more 'personally' if you want. Don't worry about violating rule
#1, I am a DIR diver.

I am leaving the court, have your 'last shot' if you must 'save face',
little grasshopper :-)

PS:

Tom, you have asked me to re-read the equipment list before I post again.
Why don't you read it yourself and see if you could find anything wrong with
it. It might help that you read the related posts also as the matching of
depth and equipment were given. But do it quick, before it is changed again.

> To end, Phi, food for thought. Is education/diving a zerosome game (eg.
