Water levels on the Suwannee and Santa Fe rivers are dropping rapidly and all springs and sinks are clearing. Peacock Spring - Clear but still a little green. Cow Spring - Yes. Bonnet Spring - Clear. Telford Spring/Telford Sink - Diveable...suggest you wait another week or two on this one. Still kinda trashy. Little River Spring - Turned clear in the basin last night. Nice little boil, excellent vis in the cave, pull your 3m stop at the steps. The mosquitoes are FIERCE here. Entry road is now dry. Devil's Eye Spring - Still a little green in the system as of yesterday. Ginnie Spring is crystal. Madison Blue - No report. Troy Spring - the best openwater dive in the area and a first magnitude spring. Pumping but still tannic in the basin. Give this one two more weeks before diving. Manatee Spring - Clearing. The water is still high down there. For the River divers: Put your plans off until next month. Convict Spring - Receives the Cave "Loser Award" for 1998. Now boasting the highest nitrate(s) ppm level of any spring in the area. The culprit: an established dairy. This one is lost.
