Any idea > if this is a standard feature? The oceanics I have are attached to turtle jet fins< thanx Rick>. They have a rubber tube over the back of them, which does cover three quarters of the spring, but there is a small portion exposed. The rubber tube is beginning to split so I covered it with electrical tape, and it is holding nicely. The exposed portion of the spring is under some tension however as it curves around the foot when worn and seems to resist holding anything slid in between it. I could not comment on homemade workarounds, but the factory strap is the real deal. This year saw dives on the Stolt, Arundo, Pinta, Algol, Tolten, Gulftrade Stern, Coney Island, Great Issac, Asfalto, Three Sisters,Bald Eagle,RC Mowhawk, Pilot Boat,Pipe Barge, Iberia and LizzieD as well as a fair number of dives on shallow inshore snags like the Warrior, Fran S, Mistletoe, Pentland Firth, Fear reef, Atlantic Beach reef and other subaquatic fun spots. I experienced no fin strap related entanglements. coincidence? you make the call. best regards, al marvelli PS These dives were done in DIR fashion as well, and my only gear problem was finding a lift bag that would lift the hook and chain quickly without dumping while being pulled on the deck, and Halycon seems to have solved that problem as well. Oh yeah and people complained that my aul light was too bright and annoying, and that it outshone their uk800r's thus impeding their ability to deprive crustaceans of their freedom. oh well. -- Send mail for the `techdiver' mailing list to `techdiver@aquanaut.com'.
