Fellow divers
This is to inform you of two diving incident on the boat that you did not
know of,I will tell you of the most resent first as it happen this sat. and
will soon be out anyway.A diver while diving to a max depth of 415ft on the
wreck of the G-102 was bent and helo lifted to a local chamber. The diver is
doing fine and is said to have a full recovery.I was not on board,so this
is second hand.
The diver was said to have been working on an artifact with his hammer at
355ft,I believe it should have been a looking dive only. The diver is a very
highly skilled diver and the depth was not new to him.But he is also said
to be a smoker.I know this diver and I try not to hold that fact against
him,but I'm sure that fact may have played a role.
The second was a near accident that is worth reporting, this was also talked
about at our meeting ,but not reported until now as some may think we are
taking a poke at them, but we are not.The diver while doing a dive on the
Ocean Venture wreck 160ft would not leave the bottom I was told by his
buddy. The diver seem to be not with it and would not listen (hand com.)the
diver had to be rescued by the buddy and another as he ran out of air(I do
believe he was breathing 21/79)
The diver was Rob Wolvo ,who died this fall by running out of air, this near
death for him was this summer, but there was no one there the second time
to save him from himself. If these facts are wrong let me know, and I will
reconfirm them from the buddy.
I was not on board for this one either,so the info is second hand.It is in
our hope (vbtech we took a vote as to report this or not) that some may
learn from these things and not make the same mistake.

Capt.JT
