Ok.

While it is not completely clear, I think that the inclusion of the
example with the diver is directed exclusively at Jim. Had your wish
been to illustrate the dangers of browsing a web page, mixing up some
home cooked gas and go diving, you ought to dedicate either an entire
post or at least a separate chapter to this.

In short, you're blaming Mr. Cobb for what idiots elect to do with the
information he has put on his site. Or this is what I, as an unbiased
lurker on this list, understand when I read your post. If this was not
the intended meaning of your post, then maybe you ought to consider
constructing the post in another way.

What you're fighting against is the concept of a world where people have
both personal responsibility and freedom, i.e. are entitled to do stupid
things, but pay the price for it, and you're fighting for a technocracy,
or a society where the experts dictate what you must and must not do.
While I agree that it is very wise to seek instruction when it comes to
this kind of diving, I do not consider it an absolute necessity - Darwin
will sort out those who have done their homework from those who haven't.

IMHO, what other people elect to do is of little importance as long as
it does not affect me. You *could* argue that the government would
intervene and start regulating, and that is a possibility, but when it
comes to personal responsibility and freedom, I believe that any given
person should have the right to kill himself in any damned way he sees
fit, as long as it does not affect others directly, and I doubt that any
law would stop idiots from doing what they want to do.
