This wasn't what I said. What I said was that clubs can put pressure
on their members to dive the way the club officials prefer to dive
and that officials can often be narrow minded.

Re-read my post. I didn't say that BSAC insurance covered you or your
equipment. I said BSAC insurance was 3rd party and, contrary to your
statement above, you should be covered for 3rd party incidents inside the
tables on air.

The scrapping-club-insurance debate was not, as you suggest, because "nothing
ever happens to us". It was over freedom of choice and the fact that many
personal policies carry 3rd party cover anyway and that people objected to
paying twice.

However, you should note that on the proposal form for any personal or
equipment insurance you are asked which clubs/agencies you dive with. If
you put BSAC on the form and you have to make a claim, the insurance company
could refuse to pay out if it discovers that you were not diving within the
guidelines/recommendations of BSAC.
