>"Neopreme" is "Neoprene" Don't judge the book by its cover. I recently had an open water student. Severe speech handicap. I worked real hard and took him from not being able to swim, to being comfortable snorkeling, and last Saturday awarded him his c-card. Hard work, both for me and him. At first I couldn't understand him. I was unable to hear his words. He was nervous and stammered and stut-tt-tt-tured alot. I though, jesus, this is gonna be tough. Sorry, but I'm being honest with you all. It was very difficult for me to converse with him. It sometimes took him a full minute to ask a 10 word question. Over the sixty hours his course lasted, I began to watch his lips more and listen more intently. He also became more comfortable around me and slowed his speech. Turns out he is a very intelligent person, in fact a computer expert at a computer manufacturer. He had a lot of important things to say, and asked all the right questions during his course. He is a really great guy and I learning alot about life from my interaction with "Ed". I think I improved a little as an instructor. I learned not to judge the content and value of person's statement by the physical delivery of those words. Let's stop correcting the spelling errors from John Walker's post. HEAR what he is saying, don't just LOOK at the words that simply convey the message. I believe what he said is important. Don't judge the book by its cover.
