You all seem to classify these as drugs - just because they come out of a bottle and are in the form of little capsules or pills. They in fact are all derived from food sources - what is a drug???? You guys are rain washed in to believing there are long term health risks from taking vitamins? Where have you been living for the past century? The fact remains that not all people want to take vitamins or amino acids or any supplement at all - that's fine - but there is still the need to follow a good nutritional program - not only for superior performance as an athlete - but for a good long healthy life. The "drugs" that we are all refering to are not drugs they are nutritional supplements designed for specific enhancement or nutritional support. They are not drugs and have no dangers associated with them. How much research would you like posted on the benefits of nutritional supplements? When I was competitvely training in powerlifting and bodybuilding - I physically could not stomach eating all the food required by my body to repair and grow muscle. I could not consume the calories needed to keep my metabolism escalated. I would use nutritional supplements to take the burden off having to eat so much food - I would enhance my protein intake with protein shakes and amino acids - I would help my muscles recover by taking bicarbonates and phosphous compounds and L-Glutamine. I regulated my blood sugars naturally using vanadyl and chromium. Nutritional supplements can be very useful. The only draw back in nutritional supplements is that the industry is a whore industry and not all products are created equal - there are false label claims and inferior products. That is where you must do some research - know what you need - find a product that is reputable and then use it according to your specific needs - not necessarily what the label says. But to just randomly say that popping pills (vitamins, aminos and minerals) is taking drugs - you are sadly mistaken and really should do some research. There are probably many of us who could lose a few pounds. At least he's trying to do something about it. What pisses me off is George and the Spam Brigade's deliberate prostitution of the WKPP's undeniable dive record and their not-so-subtle suggestions that you can be a "man" if you take their drugs. Possibly even become a member of their "master-race". The problem with taking "vitamins" as drugs, is not (as G4 privately e-mailed to me) that they are placebos, but that they may well have profound and serious effects on the users' long term health. Bad effects! Confusing the genuine benefits of a strong exercise program with voodoo pill-craft doesn't "enhance" anything except the egos and wallet sizes of the quacks doing the pushing. Give it up George. It isn't worthy of the ideals or sport you are trying to advance and it'll bite you in the ass, if that's not happened already.
