UW videography and doccumentation. Digital processing in the 4:2:2
realm. Time code gemerator on board.

Small size and low light requirements withiut sacraficing to bandwidth
noise.

Auto focus, swing out flat panel monitors, DC coupled audio transducers.

Canon XL1 DVCam (IEEE 1394) in an Amphibico Housing. Very solid
magnesium alloy body. Excellent optics and flexibility (XL AND EF
lenses); very low power consumption compared to a Hi8 and Beta; shift of
RGB component processing to 50%/G and 50%/RB vice typical processing of
60%G and 40%RB creating a higher sampling rate and providing 410,000
pixels in terms of resolution. Better than 4db improvement in light
sensitivity compared to the Sony VX-1000. Another thing I like about it
is the optical image stabilizer (good for topside) and verticle smear
reduction in those unforseen white-out situations (sun whip pans, et
el). The camera passes 180,000 pixels to the color view finder alone.

I would pair the setup with a set of 50w Comet lights.

The above is a much lighter and easier handling system than the BVP-90
Beta-Sp or Digi-Beta backs I have used in the past with superior signal
processing and light characteristics.
