dan - i'll bet i can go back 30 years & find articles in "skin Diver" stating the same thing about Padi instructors. None of them would EVER go against the standards. are you really so smug that you think that all the people that practice a particular technique (in this case DIR) cannot possibly DIW (do it wrong). there will always be someone who doesn't follow directions well. it has happened in every educational agency - after the initial diehard followers train more & they train more & so on ---sooner or later you will have a similar situation as TDI_IANDI & any other alphabetic agency you can make up. this is not a put down of a system Only A realization of the realities of life. hank In a message dated 9/1/98 3:26:19 PM Pacific Daylight Time, dlv@ga*.ne* writes: << Subj: RE: A Call to Arms Date: 9/1/98 3:26:19 PM Pacific Daylight Time From: dlv@ga*.ne* (Dan Volker) To: CaptnDale@ao*.co*, ejsadler@pa*.ne*, techdiver@aquanaut.com Capt Dale, The guy who was supposed to be a DIR instructor needs to be named----none of us give or gear up new open water students with DIR configured doubles and let them go----its just not within DIR. I have no doubt we will see many mfg's and dive shops "CLAIMING" they are DIR, as it may help drive sales. We may need to keep a list of who in fact is DIR.
