No Al, you refuse to realize where my solutions lead... when each
person spends more time focusing on what they can do to protect
themselves, then less people get hurt. What a horrible goal.
Do you disagree with that Al?

That people includes me, but also includes you (see I'm not so selfish)...
but you have to start with selfish... you have to start with taking
care of yourself. If you don't take care of yourself who will? And if
you aren't taking of yourself and no one else is taking care of themselves
its a pretty big fucking mess we're talking about... Is that what you want Al?

If you'd take time out from bashing the instructors and use it to
focus on your own gear and your own techniques, those "bad" instructors
out there would have a VERY hard time getting you to do anything
that would hurt you. and if everyone else did that, imagine how many
fewer students would get in over their head and overextend themselves.

So yes Al, to those who refuse to think about it, I suppose it
seems selfish... but all it says is that I care about myself
enough to try to take care of myself... don't you Al? (about yourself
that is, I know you're not that concerned about me)

This idea makes no statement of unwillingness to help anyone else. It
does however set the expectation that those people care enough
about themselves to invest time and energy into trying to be safe.
To know their limits and try to push them very slowly. Safe enough,
and safety conscious enough to not put themselves in many of these
situations we've seen where people have been injured.

Mike
