Bit of a con this question really, but I think it has relevance to diving
from a fitness perspective. There was some discussion recently as to what
were the best drinks to take before/after diving to (re)hydrate.

I think the conclusions we came to were that either apple juice or water
were the best options, most so-called isotonic drinks being not much more
than sugary water.

Talking to one of the local gym instructors, he said that there was a big
difference between the effectiveness of mineral (or spa) water, and
distilled water. I hadn't thought much about this, but realised that since
most bottled water sold in Hong Kong is distilled water, this was what you
were likely to be buying when you pack that extra bottle to consume on the
day of diving.

Now this guy seems fairly knowledgeable, and even criticised the gym he
works in for using distilled water in the coolers.

Any nutritionists (or others :) on the list care to comment?

thanks in anticipation,

JT
