A man has died while diving to a wreck near Oban in
Scotland.

US tourist Robert Wolov, 49, failed to surface after the
solo dive and his body was recovered by friends.

He was the eighth person involved in four separate
incidents over the weekend.

Five were treated for the 'bends' in two separate
incidents at Portland, Dorset, and a seventh diver is also
being treated for decompression sickness at Oban.

Mr Wolov was on holiday with his wife and daughter in
Scotland when he joined friends from Glasgow's
Eastwood Divers to make the trip.

He successfully reached the wreck of the Breda in
Ardmucknish Bay with his companions in the morning,
then made a solo dive.

They became concerned when he failed to resurface at
about 1130 BST (1030 GMT) on Sunday and found him
on the seabed.

He was brought to the surface and an attempt was made
to rescuscitate him, but he was pronounced dead by a
doctor who was on board a lifeboat sent out to the
emergency.

Popular diving destination

Dave Scullion, watch manager at Oban Coastguard,
said: "We do not know how this fatality occurred.

"It is a popular diving destination and we understand he
was an experienced diver. Our thoughts and prayers are
with his family and friends."
