ok, gang, we are finally up to Chapter 8: The Exploration of Wakulla Spring. I have already had a lot of requests from this chapter, and I promise to get to them all. For those of you who were disappointed that I didn't cover more from the Habitat and Rebreather sections, well, we'll try to go back to those sections later, time permitting, because there are certainly some classics to be found there. Anyway, on to this mornings installment. " Although the entire team was present at Wakulla Springs by October 30, 1987, no exploration work was conducted until after the last of the missing habitat ballast pods [see chapter 6] was recovered. Several dives were conducted to scout the situation at the limit of exploration, 1100 feet from the entrance at a depth of 260'. Because the habitat was not yet fully operational, these scouting missions were carried out using compressed air and the Navy Exceptional Exposure tables. The individuals conducting these dives had extensive experience with deep diving on air and knew their limits." Stone, W.
