David, As I think I mentioned in an earlier thread. The system prompts for a purging routine to take place. This is basically three or four purges of the loop. I beleive I am right in saying that the body when saturated in theory hold about 7 litres of gas (ref. Bill Hamilton). Obviously as outgassing continues then some of the previous inert gas is fed into the loop. Assuming that you are now at decompression, then this will create a loop expansion and you will naturally vent to maintain buoyancy anyway. Hence purging more of the unwanted diluent. If you did not purge as this occured, then practical experience has shown that once the true pruging routine is complete, the remaining previous inert has little effect on the deco. schedule.
