Pete, my personal slant on this would be more along the lines of your liberal thinking, which I can sum up as "any easier , softer way, any pill, drug, majic carpet, any shortcut, or just plain anything other than what it really takes to do whatever is at hand" . I realize that the allure of the CCR as a leveler of playing fields is tremendous, but it is illusory at best. Also, your willingness to entertain high risk behavior in diving is in fact misplaced - people do not have to die diving, Pete, and you are out of touch with the reality of the fact that they are dying, and they are dying in droves off of the most widely distributed elctronic rebreather in non-military diving - the "Inspriation". Get a clue. It really pisses me off that you use the "authority" of you MD to dispense advice on a matter in which you are grossly insufficient, and are in fact so severly so that I am apalled at the aboslute stupidity and ignorance you reveal in private discussion on the subject of diving and the physiology of diving. The fact that you have no understanding of cave applications is certainly not idiosyncratic to you. Very few people do. However you are out of line with your simplistic nonsense and bungee jumping logic on CCR's - thes people are dead. Pete, when people die, they are dead. You need to find out about that. I am going to start sending the private mail I get to all dive lists to put it in perspective so yo and others can understand this . I have one on my machine right now where the wife used the dead guy's account to email me and ask how this could happen. That is a horrifying shock to turn on you machine and see the name, the apology for using it, and then the gut-wrentching horror of the reality that I would like to stick in your yapping little mouth along with my foot. My wife just had a real fun day in the E.R.- you do know what that is, right. A kid got killed on his motorcycle - massive head injury , died in the trauma center. She told the mother he was dead, and why. The mother asked if the "swelling ( of the head injury) would go down", and the father asked if he would "need to spend the night in the hospital". Pete, you just plain do not get the tragedy of death, and somebody needs to shut your ignorant , dangerous, liberal , misiformed dumb ass up on this electronic rebreather dementia , and if it takes putting your squirley little ass in perspective, than more power to Mr. Clark - he obviously got your attention. Now wake the hell up. This is no joke. You reference here is unaceptable, Pete. I think you owe Tom Clancy an appology. Funny , yes, but I am still very angry with you for not being part of the solution here.
