Petey, why don't come on down to Wakulla and bring your little MK 15 and >show us how to cave dive with it, smartass. Sounds like you are the now rear admiral of >the fleet of battleship mouths and rowboat asses. Bill - I don't give a tinkers curse what you think of me and, as I've previously said, fresh water caves hold little or no interest for me - I like life-forms and and the ones I film are a lot better informed and cuter than you. But, I am tired of the bull that you are handing out about electronics and rebreathers. The real reason you are doing this is because you are in a pissing match with Stone. Well, I don't care about Stone and, while I wish WKPP well, largely because of my exchanges with G4, it's not uppermost in my mind. As far as I'm concerned you can race yourselves to the end of your lines and may the best guys win. But I do care about the misinformation and hyperbole you spread about rebreathers. George (and presumably you) have already changed you mind once: At 10:33 PM 5/08/96 -0400, G. But you still didn't explain why the 'breather you are using is the one with the least hours on it? OK, OK don't answer that. ;-) So why am I daring to speak up? Because it's clear that your loud and often foul mouthed shouting is not based on any real concern about divers - its concern for your own ego. Your Luddite attitude is a ruse to try and get electronics and Stone banned from caves and give yourselves an advantage. If you are so convinced of your superiority, why would you worry what he or anyone uses in those caves? And don't give me the body recovery sob-story. There are still half a dozen bodies on K2 and Everest that have not been brought down. The fact is that many of the machines out there, including the Halcyon and the Mk-15 have their uses and neither is instrinsically or always better than the other. Just as, even with the best climbing gear, some will die, the best way to prevent this is with training and planning - and even that won't always be successful. This kind of diving is inherently dangerous, but probably not much more so that playing football while downhill skiing! When we knock the training and force the agencies to do it better and persuade divers that you can *always* do it better/right, that's a service to everyone. The problem with your current agenda is that it doesn't help the sport. It doesn't help the divers . And, as Carmichael has begun to realize, it doesn't help anyone who's manufacturing units. Dive safely and go for that record, but don't seek advantage by badmouthing the equipment. And I really couldn't care less if you badmouth me ;-) PeterH -- Send mail for the `techdiver' mailing list to `techdiver@aquanaut.com'.
