Quotes from a NOAA article:

    "At depths greater than 100 feet, the majority of compressed air =
divers show impairment of thought, judgement,  reasoning, memory, the =
ability to perform mental or motor skills....."

The report went on to include a chart comenting on the narcotic effects =
of compressed air diving.

(30-100 ft)    Mild impairment of performance on unpracticed tasks. Mild =
euphoria.

(100 ft)        Reasoning and immediate memory affected more than motor =
coordination and choice reactions. Delayed response to visual and =
auditory stimuli.

No need to go on beyond this point.

SIMPLY PUT: A safer, more productive and enjoyable dive will be had by =
all whom choose to acknowledge the truth in the above statements. Helium =
mixtures are no big deal, easy to mix and simple to use. We dive =
hyperoxic tri-mixtures as SOP for dives exceeding 85 feet now. We have =
more fun than ever, get more done, and have none of the horror stories I =
seen elswhere.=20

It is worth the extra ten bucks.=20

Deep air should be dead, so less diver's would be!
