I've not heard of it being a practical concern for non-saturation dives. Take a look at _Physiology and Medicine of Diving_ (I use 3rd Edition, can't bring myself to buy the new one.) There's a good description of "isobaric inert gas counterdiffusion" causing skin bends due to counterdiffusion across the skin membrane.
