Just finished up a trip to the Monitor NMS with Captain Art on the Margie II, out of Teach's Lair in Hatteras, NC. The boat was chartered by the National Diving Center, Washington DC. We had fine seas, no more than a couple feet or so. The sun was out, and we found the wreck with no trouble. After penetrating the top layer (abt 40ft or so of cool green water) we found blue water with 70+ ft vis, in the high 70's (degF, that is). As I passed deeper, she was there, on the sand - without a doubt the most spectacular sight I've ever seen. The sand at 235 fsw was like a trip somewhere in time. The intrepid Harvey Stork (and buddy) took air in twin 120's, others of us took a light trimix with Ntx64/36 to travel. Everyone took the O's on our shallow deco stops. I hope that NOAA decides to allow further visits to the site. I'll never forget it. ------------------------------------------------------- 10/23/94, 15:18:24 EST scot@bt*.co* Scot Anderson pp000082@in*.co* Voice: 703.761.6536 CI$:74147.2357 Fax: 703.556.9290 "Is he back from that dive trip yet?"
