Subject: How do you measure partial pressures of O2,N2 and He

At the recent Birmingham (UK) dive show, a company were demonstrating
two oxygen analysers (both galvanic fuel cells) the only difference being
price between the two (200 pounds and approx 280 pounds).
The question I have is how do you measure the percentage of Helium in a mix
prior to a dive ? (I know there are standard methods e.g. mass spectremetry,
etc.) however these are neither cheap/easy to use/ or portable.

Do you simply collect a known/tested trimix from a store/supplier, and then
just prior to the dive check the oxygen percentage, to check mix is still
what you expect?

yours, Jon D
