This evening I got an e-mail from a guy in England with the following text:

<<Dear Reinhard, you may already know this, but some of the safety bottles
in
the Ressel (which I presume are yours?) are empty, or nearly so. A French
group attempting to set up for a dive on the 2nd sump had some problems on
28/6, and at least the first three had been used.<<

Because I did not know anything about the situation and the divers
involved, I called someone in England, who happened to know one of this
group and was so kind to contact him.

He got the following story: - A diver, name Fred ???, took on the way back
at 1165 mtr a parallel tunnel by mistake, which is about 150 mtr longer and
20 meters deeper than the direct tunnel, and meets the main tunnel again at
about 850 meters. Due to the longer way and more depth he run out of
gas(air?) and used my safety bottles. There is also some rumour about a
scooter problem(?).
He would definitely have drowned without the safety bottles.
They left my empty cylinders in the cave. The English guy told me that the
divers knew about the ownership of the safety cylinders and his impression
was that they did not have the intention to inform me about using the gas.
-

I had placed half a dozen trimix safety cylinders with a high helium
content (EAD 20 mtr) for a future dive about 5 weeks ago in the deep part
of the cave.
I have no problem with someone who uses my gas in an emergency, especially
if it saves his life.

What I can not understand that they do not want to inform about the used
gas and actually have not within the last ten days. Nice move!

Regards, Reinhard
