As of right now, this is only from what I heard: On July 4th a female diver in her mid 40s died while diving on the Cypress Point (charter boat) outside of Point Lobos in Monterey. This was possibly her second dive of the day to about 100 ft and conflicting stories claim her bottom time was anywhere from 20 - 30 minutes. Apparently she had surfaced, signaled to the boat she was ok, and somewhere between her signaling and swimming to the boat, she lost consciousness. It is unclear how long she was out for until someone noticed her in the water unconscious. The DM of the boat dove in to get her, they brought her on board and ran into Whalers Cove where emergency crews were standing by. According to my buddy who wittnessed the entire event from their entrance to the cove, (he wasn't on the boat, so I do not know the full story) he said that she was pretty dead when they brought her onshore. Again, this is so far only what I have heard, once I get further information, I will post. Andy -- Send mail for the `techdiver' mailing list to `techdiver@aquanaut.com'.
