By Popular Demand- How to attach one item to another using string rather than a zip tie. 1. Orient the objects you wish to connect so they are as close together as possible. 2. Using a figure-8 pattern, weave your high tensile nylon line around the 2 objects 4 or 5 times. 3. Pull everything tight and take the tails and wrap them overlapping (half-hitchs) a couple of times around the center of the "8" 4. Pull everything tight and tie a proper square knot. 5. Trim the tails to about 1/4" 6. Take a match and melt the tails into little mushrooms right down to the knot. If you do this right, the knot will never get undone. Inspect these connections on your pre-dive for looseness or fraying and you are good to go. Jim -- Send mail for the `techdiver' mailing list to `techdiver@aquanaut.com'.
