A belated thanks to all who posted studied responses both to me privately and to the List. Perhaps we might all think carefully about how vulnerable we all are: No matter how proven/reliable a regulator (for example) is, and no matter how religiously and carefully it is serviced, an undetected defective part in a rebuild kit can compromise the regulator, and if both the primary and secondary backgas regulators were serviced with rebuild kits comprised of parts from the same lot of defective parts, a diver can very easily find that both regulators have failed approximately simultaneously, maybe well into a technical dive. Even dive computers are not immune from this concern. Duplicate computers mean duplicate hardware AND software. And two seemingly different computers (different hardware) just might use identical software, so if one has a software failure...
