Okay, let me try to clarify everything. I'm only an Advanced Nitrox certified diver. I do all of my diving in the Philippines, all open water. I am now in Arkansas while my dad gets medication for cancer. I figure its the perfect opportunity for me to get myself new gear. I used to have a crummy jacket type BC, which I suppose no one would object to if I wanted to retire it. It was hard using it on the check out dives for advanced nitrox. So, at the top of my list is the backplate and wings. I'm not yet certified to use doubles, so the backplate have to be able to accomodate singles. I am not buying tanks here coz it'll be too heavy to bring home. I don't own my own deco tank, and nitrox regulator for the deco tank. My instructor is the only one I konw who rents out deco and twin tanks. He certainly wouldn't rent me one, and I wouldn't want to use one before I get proper certification. I'm delaying the certification because my instructor is charging it in us dollars, and it's $750. My country's currency is devaluating now, so its even more expensive, but besides that, the amount is just too expensive. I initially wanted to get certification here, but I'm Arkansas and my dad needs me at home. I just spend my time here on the net, and after going trough what I believe, every single website dedicated to diving, I realized that the backplate was a good place to start for my gear configuration. I would like to do the Hogarthian way of diving, and hopefully encourage all my buddies to do the same. I think highly of everyone on the mailing list, figuring every single one of you is more highly certified and exprienced than I am. All your comments are welcome.
