Nearly the only mixing method available is the molecular-filter sold by scubapro. That's not really true. All systems are available. I'm very interested to find out more about a system called continuous-mixing. (Where small amounts of pure oxygen is added in the inlet of the compressor). Are there any sites referring to this equipment ? Are there any producers ? Used to be coils, but now you have the "Nitrox Stick" GMC sells those I believe. Anyway, do not think this is the only thing you need to get started blending! You need to look at the complete system, not just parts of it. Does somebody know such a system for sale ? GMC and I think ANDI used to sell something too. Are there any disadvantages I should be aware of ? 1.Running nitrox through your compressor.... Not really a nice idea. Also you will run the same nitrox through your filters. Filters with carbon... 2.So you canb go ahead with a Rix compressor, but those are costly. 3.and 4.Also you will mostly work with nitrox storage. So do not forget to add the cost of special nitrox storage cylinders for let's say 32% and 36%. This means that that those will be the mixtures you are mainly pumping. 5.For sure if you use a nitrox stick with your regular oil lubricated compressor you can not go above 40% oxygen. What about rebreather divers? Deco gasses? 6.What if you wrongly adjust your oxygen supply... and "by accident" you run 60% through the compressor? I never tried it and I would be interested in the results but what bothers me is not only the danger of oxygen fire, but also incomplete combustion of hydrocarbons, generating CO. 7.Lots of waste gas while you are adjusting the mix. The compressor needs to run while you adjust, so all that gas is lost untill you get the right mix. If the pressure in the tank is increasing the output of a compressor is normally decreasing. Is the oxygenflow automatically reduced or should it be corrected manually ? Yes, this is a manual system. The only automated system on the market is the ANX Supreme by NS Research. the reasons is that we want a filling system that can be taken on a boat and has a capacity to fill around 50 double sets within 6 hours. Buying the right blending system is a decision that needs to be based on a lot of factors. How often are you going to need this capacity? Are all sets filled with the same mixture or different ones? Will you need to supply deco gasses for dives to the wrecks in the North Sea for example? If you give some more info I can give you a better view on the possibilities.
