I would like to thank all 27 people who replied to my request for alternate battery suggestions for Aladen Pro/Monitor II batteries. Although there were several different suggestions, by far the most popular (80%) was the Tadiran High Capacity TL-5903/T 3.6 volt AA size Lithium battery. (Note the /T is for solder tabs). This battery has a life of 3-5 years in use or 5-6 years in storage. Although I didn't check US pricing, thief web site http://www.tadiranbat.com has a list of dealers and distributors. The Canadian distributor is Electosonic Canada http://www.e-sonic.com who have a number of offices across Canada. They will sell the batteries individually at a cost of $9.35 CDN. The Toronto sales number is (416) 494-1555 and the Manu Code they require is 474. If you have to ship by courier, there is a $11.00 dangerous goods charge so you may want to order extra for a friend or local dive shop to keep the cost down. (the local dive shops are charging $30-35.00 CDN for the Uwetec battery). Now, if we can find a source for the 2 part gel used in the Monitors, maybe we can drop that price from $75-80.00 CDN to something more reasonable. Thanks again.
