Subject: Tank Requirements for air and nitrox use

Greetings All
 I am new on this list. I have been diving for 7 years in the northeast
and I am thinking about taking a nitrox course. Is it possible to use
air and nitrox in the same tank with the same regulator ? i.e. I
do a morning dive with nitrox and then go to the dive shop and drain
my tank and have it filled with normal air. I have heard that Nitrox is
more corrosive and requires silicone O rings and you can't switch back and
forth between the 2. Any info on this subject would be appreciated. Thank you.
