Anyone got any good > alternatives? Isnt this part of the rationale for the using the big light in the ocean? That it is a form of weight that is also easily ditched if need be? I understand its primary reason for exsistence is lighting in caves/wrecks. After all it _is_ a light. But I though GIII had mentioned that it also was an easily ditched weighting device, and this multi task capability was another aspect of the 'system' . Additionally I find that when I wear a weight belt with a hogarth rig that if I put the belt under the crotch strap ( which often evokes horror and dismay from the peanut gallery), that it is easily ditched by undoing two similar buckles(ss on rig, plastic on belt) as long as your crotch strap loop is big enuff for the ss buckle to slide cleanly through it. The belt is now also very difficult to lose completely. The pressue of the belt on the crotch stap seems to remind one to tighten it before it comes off completely. This config btw is a wet suit with an al 80 single. Dry with doubles( lp95 or hp100) I am negative all the way through the dive, thus requiring a drysuit to back up the BC, without a weight belt. I have yet to run the doubles below 500psi tho. Comments are welcome, in any manner you wish to deliver .
