If we are going international, here are the rules of the FFESSM (french federation of diving). Please note that they apply to air dives, up to 50m/160 fsw. 1. Fast ascent (i.e. faster than 15m/min, 50feet/min) : if surface interval is greater than 3 minutes, should proceed immediately with hyperbaric treatment. If less than 3 minutes, go down to the half of the max depth reached, 5 min stop there, and start a deco using max depth and bottom time = total time, from first dive to end of the 5 min stop at half depth. 2. Stops interrupted due to out of air / other reason : if surface interval is greater than 3 minutes, should proceed immediately with hyperbaric treatment. If less than 3 minutes, restart all your deco stops from the first one (try to grab a tank before diving back !).
