John you questioned George's statment:

Dive training of all levels whether it be OW or Super Duper Tri-mix Course
Director will only be as good at the person being trained AFTER they leave
our care, custordy and control. A diver may perform very well under a
"training environment" where someone is there to look over tier shoulder
and answer their questions along the line, but when they get out in the
open ocean on their own that is truly where the learning begins.

For example, we can teach that a diver who misses some decompression time
can surface then can reenter the water under certain circumstances, but if
they have never been fully trained in these procedures undeer simulation
its doubtful they may ever be able to justify doing it.

There are many divers and trainers who train themselves. Most do on a
regular basis. They live, eat and breathe this stuff all the time. If they
are not diving they are learning, searching and discussing all theaspects
of teh challenging dive.

An Instructor is to provide a student with a base foundation of qaulity
information and evaluate that the student can perform those skills. What
happens after they leave that training is really dependant on who what
when and where they chose to dive and with whom.

Rocky Balboa (Rocky I) while talking to the little waife in the street one
night said, "When you hand out with nice people, you become a nice person,
you hang out with smart people you become a smart person, you hang out with
coconuts you become a coconut.............
