I wrote the gas mixing program for PalmPilot
I would like to do dive planning software too and have though about it a
lot. In fact the gas mixing software was a trial for doing a dive planner.
It would be really handy to have dive planning capability on a pocket size
PDA device that runs for a month on 2 AAA batteries.
It is rather more complex however, and it remains to be seen how well a
PalmPilot could handle the maths.
At the moment I need to get across the details of the Buhlmann algorithms
before I can do a prototype.
An alternative is to use a WinCE based PDA. Is the Psion WinCE ? In which
case something "light" like ZPLAN may just run on it. You could ask William
Smithers <will@tr*.co*> if he has tried it on a WinCE PDA.
