steve,,,tanks for the comments,,,

the true reason again, is to keep us/jap products out of europe.
why else would a major mfg. of scuba IN EUROPE ""help"" the EC write the scuba
requirements????duh
the easiest way is to put strict performance criteria on regulators, etc.
as far as the material spec. hell,,,,we (USA) can out-materail any country
that exists. most regs use the brass/chrome style. cause its
solid/good/cheap/looks good,,,,and brass is brass in any country.

the bc tests require that a FULL SIZE manakin is dressed up FULLY
in COMPLETE scuba gear, bc inflated and PUSHED off a 20' high
catwalk into a giant tank of water.
the """"dummy""" must arrive at the site intact, bc inflated and all
gear in place. this test is conducted MORE than once and until the testers are
satisfied of the integrity of thebc/backpack/straps/buckles etc.

jeeezuz h. christ steve,,,i've seen people (dummies) leave a boat from 2'
above water and lose more shit (gear) than the average dive shop has in stock
at any given time.

again,,i am not for the fact that the EC is req. testing,,butt all in all
"you gets what you pay for"

also,,why not put the fox in charge of the hen house????at least he knows what
chicken tastes like.....
