One of my sales reps tells me that the impression out there is that =
Underwater Applications is going out of business. Here's the real scoop:

The closeout sale recently posted has nothing to do with UAC's current =
business status. I should have done this a year ago. I have a lot of =
obsolete inventory (stuff that turned out not to be popular, stuff that =
didn''t work in its intended application(s), stuff that was superceded =
by something better), as well as a lot of personal dive gear that I =
don't use any more (I can only carry one camera at a time).

My wife and I had/have been planning to have another child for a while =
now. This would require her to reduce her hours (she's the one with the =
good job). That would mean that I would have to get a good job with =
benefits and regular pay. So, we put the plan into work. Fortunately the =
timing was right. She became pregnant about the same time that I was =
lining up a "real" job. On March 23, I started at Raptor Systems, a =
maker of networking security products, as a customer support engineer. =
After verifying that my wife was out of that high(er) risk first =
trimester of her pregnancy, we announced that a new baby is due the =
first part of October.

Now, what to do with the company. I wasn't sure before I started the =
job, but now I am. Orders will typically ship on Mondays. I can =
occasionally get one out during the week, but it's hard. I will reduce =
the product line to those most popular items (one analyzer, the =
portable/entry level mix system, the partial pressure mixing panel, our =
small OCA filter system, Lawrence Factor's big filter system, filter =
cartridges, oxygen grease, oxygen cleaning solution). I will continue to =
rebuild Haskels for O2. After the o-ring inventory is gone, I will =
discontinue the o-ring kits (the manufacturers now have them, anyway). I =
will no longer (after the inventory for these things is gone) build =
custom mix systems (unless the money is real good) or custom hose =
assemblies. I will teach some technical level courses locally (it will =
now be difficult to travel to other places and impossible to travel on =
weekdays).

So, the bottom line is, orders will be delayed a few days. After the =
inventory is reduced, which will probably take 6 months to a year, =
product lines will be focused to the popular 2-3 mixing systems. Call, =
write, fax, e-mail with any questions or to place orders.

Sincerely,
C. Randy Bohrer, President
