Subject: Re: Diet and Training series for fitness in deep diving, Part one; Hydration
Date: Fri, 27 Mar 1998 10:38:15 -0500

Hi Jeremy,
Thanks for contributing here. I'm sure Terry would agree with you that the
ephedrine and other "energy" type supplements are ONLY for the gym or bike,
and as you said, should be avoided and kept out of your system for technical
dives.

Since many people on this list will find the gym workouts, diet, and
endurance training far more difficult to stay motivated in, compared to cave
or tech diving, one of the areas Terry and I will try to help out in, is
showing the list some of the ways long time bodybuilders or cyclists manage
to fit in diets into professional work schedules, as well as how we keep the
mental "edge" or "positive focus", that keeps us training.

Training will have other repercussions to deep diving, which we will
address later---such as at what part of the week you should be doing intense
training, relative to your deep dives---clearly, you do not want to do an
intense gym or bike day on a Friday, and have sore, constricted muscles for
dive day on Saturday. But we will get to scheduling and recovery intervals
in one of the next articles.
Regards,
Dan
