Thanks to all for your insights. It seems the comments so far are pretty
favourable for the Abyss.

I should have mentioned the intended type of diving is deep and cold on air 
(ice diving included). I've experienced regs at depth that start to flutter and
sputter (annoying to say the least). I've also had close friends have their 
regs freeze up and free flow (really annoying :-)). If possible I'd like to 
avoid these problems by investing in a suitable reg with readily available 
service but actually requires very little.

Anyone have any comments on the Sherwood Blizzard?

Someone mentioned problems with the Dacor Extreme. I've heard similar stories
from a number of techs, including a long time Dacor dealer.
