Andy -

I bought one a few weeks ago. Here's what I found:

1) it pads the lower bolt and nut on the inside of my OMS plate. This was
the reason I bought it. The OMS plate has such a shallow bend that
standard bolts protrude a little farther than I like -- especially
because I dive the plate in South Florida with thin wetsuits. I expect
that it would also reduce contact wear on a drysuit.

2) the greater friction of the nylon to nylon contact and lumbar padding
anchors the plate better against my wetsuit. This was unexpected, but I
like the additional stability especially when gearing up.

3) The lumbar support does make diving a plate more comfortable.

Best of all, I haven't found any downside to using one. I haven't used
the pocket yet -- I didn't buy a surfmat or Brownie's stowable liferaft
and my liftbag looks like its too big to fit -- so I can't comment on
that.

I have mine attached with zip ties, but Brownies now has these slick
connectors that attach through the holes drilled around the plate edge
for a truly snag free connection. No complaints.

Best -

Bill
