I was just trying drysuits on at SeaRovers (Boston dive show). I was, to my surprise, most taken by the Avon (but then I have a weakness for bizarre British concoctions) - ugly dirty gray-black, it looks like something out of a WW2 frogman movie, or as if it was glued together out of old inner tubes. The surprise was how comfortable it was - the material has a lot of stretch, and the suit felt supple like an old Viking sport rather than the heavyweight it is. Fits snugger so it should be easier to move through the water than the heavier trilams like the Typhoons. The importer is local, and doesn't seem to sell a whole lot of them, so there aren't a whole lot in circulation here - I'd be interested in hearing any comments on this suit from anyone who might be aquainted with it. BTW, another interesting suit I had never seen before (and I don't think I would have even looked twice at, let alone try on if they hadn't been raffling one off) was the Dacor (!!) Xtreme. It's a polyester/butyl trilam, feels more rugged than lightweight trilams like the DUI TLS350, but much more flexible than the heavier ones, and very comfortable - rated on comfort alone, I'd put it in the same class as the DUI's. The guy told me they come from Finland. Anyone tried one of these yet? -- Send mail for the `techdiver' mailing list to `techdiver@aquanaut.com'.
